“One thing I am sure of … my generation, the Baby Boomers, were real. There were a lot of us, we were noisy and we had a lot to say. I think that the counterculture Baby Boomers created set the stage for the next 100 years. We were part of the greatest generational shift our planet has ever seen. The roots of the change we set in motion probably began in the Industrial Age centuries before, but in the years following the Second World War humanity plunged into a global adolescence. In every nook and cranny of the world a wellspring of new ideas, music and thought erupted. It was a reformation – the reforming of our consciousness and our whole way of thinking and seeing, advancing far beyond militarisation and materialism towards the old hippie adage of peace and love. Something very important flowered in human consciousness during these years and I believe we are grappling with its effects to this day.”
